The owner of Bearscat Bakery has expanded into a new business, with the help of his generations.

Kevin Cavanagh and his 16-year-old daughter Mariah have opened up a new shop in North Bismarck.

Fizzily offers a variety of different popcorns, along with hundreds of different combinations for customizable sodas.

A business, popping its way through the family.

"My family has owned Bearscat my entire life, so business has always been second-hand to me, and its always been something I've grown up with and I've been around, so I guess I've just caught on in that way," said Mariah.

At only 16 years old Mariah turned an idea, into a family business.

"She helped us name it, came up with the logo, and perfected some of the stuff. It’s nice to get her perspective like, ‘hey this is what we should have, this sounds good,”’ said Kevin.

The Cavanagh's have been perfecting popcorn for years, but now they're letting customers experiment with sodas.

"You can pick out of our 14 bases and you can add in different syrups and purees, and different things to make it the drinks you like," said Mariah.

For Mariah, she hopes her first business will become a gathering place for friends and family.

"I ultimately want it to be a place where people can come to hang out and get their favorite drink and popcorn," said Mariah.

With her dad by her side, and plans for future expansion.

"I would love to see the concept work, we've thought about taking it to other places in North Dakota if it works out well. We'd love to open up more locations," said Kevin.

Popping their way around the state with a new Fizzily business.

Fizzily opened their doors to the public last week.

The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
