If you're still looking to shoot off fireworks at home or travel this week, North Dakota is the state to it. We were ranked the seventh safest state in the nation during the Fourth of July season, according to A Secure Life.
The holiday safety rankings are based on the portion of the adult population with a driver's license as well as wildfire-threatening conditions.
"If you do them correctly and be safe, they are safe. We at the Safety Council recommend that you leave the fireworks up to the professionals," said Lindsey Dockter, North Dakota Safety Council marketing coordinator.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, consumer fireworks start nearly 20,000 fires and cause $43 million worth of damages every year.
According to the rankings, the safest state this time of year is Connecticut; while the least safe is Oklahoma.
