The North Dakota Department of Health announced that there were 645 cases of flu reported statewide this week.

Last year during this same week only 105 cases were reported.

Immunization officials at First District Health Unit in Minot say they have given about 10,000 vaccinations this flu season, and they encourage anyone who has not gotten the shot to get it as soon as possible.

“Even though you may never have had the flu virus that doesn't mean you're not going to. It just means you have not been exposed to it. So just consider getting it because it could save your life or the life of someone you love,” said Lacey McNichols, immunization coordinator at First District Health Unit in Minot.

You can get a flu shot at your primary care doctor or at First District Health Unit Monday through Friday, no appointment is needed.
