ND National Guard works on recruitment goal
It's been an impressive recruiting year so far for the North Dakota National Guard.
The yearlong goal is 340 recruits and they're already at nearly 200.
Recruit Isaac Johnson is in football, basketball, and track for Shiloh Christian School in Bismarck.
Nearing graduation he decided to follow in the footsteps of his father.
"He's just an outstanding, hard working man, and just something that I can look up to and try to be up there one day like him," said Isaac Johnson, Recruit.
Isaac says he'd considered the Air Force, but the Guard was a better fit.
"Once he got the idea in his mind of wanting to serve, serve his country, we had a lot of conversations. As a dad you don't want to push anybody in a certain way," said Colonel David Johnson, Isaac's Father.
He enlisted in the National Guard April 3 and will soon go to his first drill.
"I was fortunate enough to have my dad swear me in, and he did the oath with me," said Isaac.
Isaac is getting a full ride scholarship to Concordia college for his service.
