ND Department of Health recommends flu shots before family gatherings

The state health department is urging people to get a flu shot before the next family holiday gathering.

There have been 271 confirmed flu cases in the state so far this season, which is about normal.

"The influenza vaccine is the best and easiest way we have to prevent yourself and others from getting sick and so it's really important that they can encourage people to get that," said Levi Scholsser, with the Division of Disease Control.

Health experts say young children are more susceptible to the Influenza virus.
