UPDATE: State fire marshal investigates Surrey fire
UPDATE: The State Fire Marshal is investigating after a late-night fire ripped through a garage and a home in eastern Ward County Monday.
The call came in of a garage engulfed in flames sometime after 10 p.m., in the 5300 block of 125th Street SE, between Surrey and Sawyer.
The fire began in the garage, and spread to the home. The occupants were able to get out, and no one was hurt.
According to Minot Rural Fire, state investigators planned to visit the scene of the fire Tuesday morning.
The structures are likely a total loss.
Sawyer Fire was the primary responder, and they called for aid from Surrey and Minot Rural.
The Ward County Sheriff’s Department also assisted.
The cause of the fire remains unclear.
ORIGINAL STORY: A fire ripped through a garage and a home late Monday night in eastern Ward County, just south of Sawyer and east of Nedrose.
Reports came in of a garage engulfed in flames in the 5300 block of 125th Street SE around 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Minot Rural came to the aid of Surrey Fire as well as other departments.
A Ward County deputy on scene said there were people at home at the time of the fire, though they managed to escape.
The fire appears to have started in the garage and spread to the home.
The cause of the fire is unclear.
