Morton County officials did not violate open records law for DAPL incident

BISMARCK, N.D. - The Morton County State’s Attorney and the Morton County Sheriff’s Office did not violate the open records law when they declined to provide records, including photographs and video, relating to specific Dakota Access Pipeline incident in Morton County in 2016 according to an Opinion Release by Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem.

In the release, Stenehjem states that the offices did not violate the law because the criminal investigations of those incidents were ongoing.
