The young male moose that was stuck on the icy Missouri River for a few days has died.
The moose was unable to walk, so a rescue-crew took the moose to shore on Sunday and kept it warm in hay so the North Dakota Game and Fish Department could observed it for a couple of days.
Wardens determined its condition was not improving. The moose had a torn or broken shoulder and would have never been able to walk again, so it was “dispatched” by the Game and Fish Department Tuesday afternoon.
Judd Burman, the organizer of the rescue-crew, said its meat is going to a local food bank.
It will be tested for diseases before that.
