A Helena, Mont., man has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide in connection with an accident that took place over the weekend.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says Samuel Hamilton failed to stop at an intersection and caused an accident that injured a 16-year old boy and killed 16 year-old Lexi Meduna of Williston.

Court Records show Hamilton has been charged with a Class A felony, and is currently being held at Williams County correctional facility.

Troopers say Hamilton failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 1804 and Williams County 21, causing him to hit the victim's Jeep that spun into a ditch. The Highway Patrol says rescuers had to pull the two teens from the wreckage.

Williston High School has created a GoFundMe donation page for Lexi Meduna, which as of this evening had raised $3,500 toward a $10,000 goal.
