Bismarck High students will be joining the gun debate in a school walkout this week.
Bismarck Public Schools said they will not dismiss class for any walkouts, but students can get parent permission to march and have the absence excused.
If teachers want to march, they must take a personal leave.
Students say they expect about 50 people to participate. Cara Mund, Miss America, a Bismarck native, weighed in on the demonstration.
"Let those above them, those that are older that may underestimate them know that they have opinions, and that they're there to make an impact just as much. It's always good to have your voice heard in a positive way that never hurts anyone else, but I think it's great that our high schoolers are willing to take a stand and use their voice," said Cara Mund, Miss America.
The walkout is planned to take place March 14 at 10 am.
