Minot's animal ordinance committee continues talks on dangerous animal ban

Members of the animal ordinance committee continued their talks on breed specific legislation and a proposed dangerous animal ban.

The committee passed a recommendation at their last meeting to end B-S-L, which in most cases are pit bulls. Under the current city ordinance these types of dogs are not allowed within city limits.
The committee also proposed a recommendation to ban all vicious animals which are not breed specific.

“All dogs have the potential of possibly biting and being dangerous and being vicious and being a nuisance and so there's a balance there that they're looking for us to strike,” said Shannon Straight, committee member.

Straight says the city council will either take this issue at their next meeting on Monday December 4th, or will have a special city council meeting to address these issues.
