Minot woman charged in stabbing

MINOT, N.D. – A Minot woman is in custody on charges she stabbed a man in the abdomen Saturday.

Prosecutors charged 31-year-old Whitney Belgarde with aggravated assault, dangerous weapon or other weapon, adult victim.

According to the affidavit, Minot Police responded to a report of an aggravated assault at a southwest Minot residence.

The 37-year-old victim had suffered a stab wound to his abdomen, and was taken to Trinity Hospital for treatment.

Investigators say the victim told them he and another man went to a third friend’s apartment that belonged to Belgarde.

He said she demanded he leave, and as he got up to leave, she stabbed him with a folding knife.

Investigators found a knife in the apartment that matched the story, and Belgarde had a reddish stain on her hand.

Belgarde made her initial appearance on the charge Tuesday. She’ll be arraigned Dec. 19.

The charge is a C-felony.
