The City of Minot will begin testing fire hydrants starting July 5.
It may stir up iron deposits in the water and could cause a brown discoloration.
The City of Minot says the water is still safe to drink and to cook with, but it doesn't recommend washing white laundry while the tint is present.
The tests will be done weekly, on Tuesdays from 8:30 to noon, through October.
The brown discoloration is only temporary and will correct itself after a few hours.
Each week's testing location can be found on the city's website www.minotnd.org and Facebook page the Friday before the tests take place.
