MINOT, N.D. - The City of Minot is offering people the opportunity to learn what it is like to be a first responder.
Citizens Public Safety Academy provides members of the community an inside look at how firefighters and police officers serve the public.
Activities demonstrate what it is like to patrol the streets or fight a fire.
The sessions include practical, hands-on learning exercises and academic instruction.
"The citizens academy is a great way to be able to hear straight from local law enforcement in regards to, not only the limitations, but the potential possibilities are for what your law enforcement agency can do," said Capt. Justin Sundheim.
The academy lasts eight weeks, with sessions beginning September 5th and lasting through Oct. 24, every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Applications can be found on the Minot Police Department's website.
