A Minot man drowned at Nelson Carlson Lake Monday evening.

The Ward County Sheriff's Department says 32-year-old Albert Wilson had been out on the lake on an inflatable device and became separated from it shortly after 6 o'clock.

Two bystanders attempted to rescue him but were unsuccessful.

Dive teams from Burlington, Ward County and Garrison responded, along with ambulances from Minot, Max and Douglas.

They were able to retrieve his body at about 8. They attempted CPR, but Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.

He had not been wearing a life jacket. His body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
