Minot WWII Veteran Lynn Aas to raise flag at Twins game

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Lynn Aas, a Minot veteran credited for a series of heroics during World War II, will raise the American flag at the Minnesota Twins game at Target Field this Friday.

Lynn’s son Dave found out about the Twins program that honors veterans through social media, and the Aas family applied to have Lynn raise the flag.

More than 40 family and friends will be in attendance for the game.

The 97-year-old Aas has received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and French Legion of Honor medal for his actions during World War II. He survived a glider crash and shrapnel attack during the war, and traveled to Europe in 2015 for a week-long series of events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.

The Twins host the Baltimore Orioles Friday at 7:10 p.m.
