Minot State honors WWI heroes by dedicating bench

MINOT, N.D. - Minot State faculty began honoring two former students who lost their lives in World War I by planting a pair of trees this past Memorial Day. Now they're finishing rededication efforts on the trees by unveiling a bench between them, acknowledging the sacrifices from Henry Finn and James Otis Cooper.

The memorial located between the library and Swaine Hall hopes to serve as a reminder to students and faculty about the sacrifices made by members of our own community in the name of defending our rights.

"Our veterans, obviously World War I, but all of our veterans have done so much for us. Minot State has had a huge impact on that over the years, so we're happy to be able to memorialize them that way," said Rick Hedberg, Minot State Vice President for Advancement.

Veterans week concludes at Minot State with the "We Remember You" concert at 7:30 p.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson hall.
