More than 5000 women a year across the state of North Dakota are impacted by domestic violence, according to the North Dakota statewide sexual and domestic violence coalition CAWS.

Monday a Minot business gave back to a few them.

Minot Restaurant Supply kicked off its first ever fill a purse campaign.

They bought dozens of purses they hope to fill with supplies like deodorant, lotion, and socks.

The bags will be dispersed to women in the area who rely on the Domestic Violence Crisis Center.

“Often times when women have to leave their home, they don't have time to take essentials.

So we just thought this would be a good way to give back at this time of the year if we could have a purse and it has their essentials in it already for them,” said Keela Forthun, co-owner of Minot Restaurant Supply.

To donate drop off supplies at Minot Restaurant Supply.

They will be accepting donations until December 13.
