Minot Police staff and sergeant honored with annual awards

MINOT, N.D.- Two of Minot's finest were honored today for their efforts with the Minot Police Department.

Sarah White is this year's outstanding police employee working as an administrative clerk for the department.

Sgt. Paul Burns was honored as this year's most outstanding police officer.

The winners were selected from a pool of 20 nominees who were all selected by their peers.

The award winners were chosen from a panel of previous award recipients.

Here are some of the reasons they say White and Burns were selected.

“Her attitude speaks volumes by itself. She does an amazing amount of work for the department and makes our jobs easier. She does some of the things the rest of us don't like to do,” said Minot Police Chief Jason Olson when referring to Sarah White.

“He shares his advice with other staff to help them out and he gives one hundred percent of his heart and soul to his profession,” Olson said when referring to Sgt. Burns.

Six new officers officially joined the force too, after being pinned at the ceremony.
