MINOT, N.D. - The Minot Masonic Lodge is once again teaming up with a local grocery store to help feed those in need this holiday.
The lodge worked with Cash Wise Foods in Minot to donate 20 meals worth of food to the Salvation Army Church.
Cash Wise donated 20 turkeys and the lodge donated the rest, including pumpkin pies, vegetables, potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and more.
Some of the food will go to a free community meal at the Grand Hotel on Christmas Day at 2 p.m., and the rest will be given to families in need.
“With everything that's going pretty much bad in the world, society, there's always those good things you can to put either a smile on someone's face or put some food in someone's belly, especially during the holiday. Whenever we can step out and do a great thing, that's something that we always try to do,” said Ben Lingenfelter, with the lodge.
He said some members of the 219th Security Forces with the North Dakota Air National Guard volunteered to help load and unload the food.
The lodge plans to expand the food donations to more holidays in the coming years.
