MINOT, ND - The Minot Health and Rehab held it's first veterans appreciation program today.

22 of the 87 residents are veterans.

The day included breakfast with Minot Air Force Base military personnel, a flag raising ceremony, and musical performance, and tonight-a catered dinner with their families.

Both veterans and staff say the day is memorable.

"What we really wanna do is let them know that we appreciate the veterans of the community, this is a military community with the base up north. I think just participating in community events is real important," said Karl Swedberg, Minot Health and Rehab administrator.

"I enjoyed the veterans day here today. I was outside when they raised the flag and I stood up and saluted the flag-which I thought was great for the United States of American. I am thankful for the United States," said Melvin W. Jensrud, WWII Veteran.

Minot Health and Rehab says it plans to hold this event again next year.
