Minot Fire Department to host tests for potential firefighters

MINOT N.D. - The Minot Fire Department is in need of firefighters.

Firefighters say the department is currently understaffed and they are looking to hire at least eight people to fill positions.

On Saturday, the department is hosting a written and physical test for potential applicants.

The testing will begin at 9 a.m. at the Minot Auditorium.

The physical test will replicate what firefighters must actually do on the job; including climbing a 78 foot ladder and lifting a 200-pound dummy.

“My advice for you is if you want to take this test is be in shape. You're going to need that once you get hired, so be in shape. Both aren't very easy, you have to know your stuff. The great part with the written exam is it's all general knowledge. They don't ask you any questions about any fire related questions so you can come in with zero experience at all and still do fairly well,” said Alex Coleman, a firefighter.
