Minot City Hall to get security upgrades

MINOT, N.D. – Minot's City Hall will soon be getting more secure.

Secure locks for doors and teller windows are all a part of security measures that are coming to City Hall.

In early February city council leaders approved the measures.

The upgrades will cost roughly $52,000.

The money for it was already allocated for in the 2020 budget.

The upgrades will be installed later this year.

“We want to make sure our staff have a secure area so they can get their work done but also the project will not limit any access to the public,” said Derek Hackett, with Minot Public Information.

The City Council is still pursuing a search for a new location for City Hall as well.

Hackett says the police department will take over the current City Hall and will also need to have security measures in place.
