BISMARCK, N.D. - Producers are looking to move the industry forward with new technology, but upgrading existing plants can be very expensive. That's why one company is building new.
Meridan Energy group is building a new refinery in Belfield, with brand new technology that will produce 90 percent fewer emissions than a standard refinery.
“The air quality people, they don't have to ask us for reports every month when it's operating. They can get online and look at the same data we're looking at and confirm that we are in compliance every single day,” said Meridian CEO Bill Prentice.
The new plant should be open by the end of 2018.
