BISMARCK, N.D. - Moving to a new place comes with all kinds of challenges. Among these are making new friends and learning about your new home.
A young girl at Miller Elementary has overcome these challenges and more, like learning English over the last three years, having spoken none before she came to Bismarck. She was the winner of an essay and poetry contest about Human Rights, and as her prize, her whole class received a pizza party and a visit from the mayor.
"She did just a wonderful job, and if I was her parent I would be very proud of her. As a mayor I am very proud of her and appreciate what she did," said Mayor Mike Seminary.
Another party will be thrown at Horizon Middle School tomorrow for the other winner of the contest.
