MANDAN, N.D. - A new home away from home opened for veterans Thursday. The Marine House is a more than 100-year-old building that has been under renovation for the last three years.

The Leathernecks' Marine House is for gatherings, ceremonies and celebrations. More than 5,000 marine hours of work, and more than $300,000 have gone into the building.

"Salutes to Vietnam veterans, we've been hosting salutes to Iraqi war veterans. We've been having general assembly just for the camaraderie, open socials for our own members and for our fellow marines, and of course coming up the Marine Corps birthday. Yeah, there'll be a little celebration going on in our marine house," said Ray Morrell, Marine House Committee chairperson.

The house can be rented by the public for events, just go to dakotaleathernecks.com/marine-house
