BISMARCK, N.D. - UPDATE: Secretary Of State Al Jaeger says his office has received an email confirming the withdrawal of the petition.

ORIGINAL STORY: Marijuana legalization group plans to withdraw petition and resubmit another.

John Bailey, the chairperson for the committee, says it was a group decision to withdraw but plan to resubmit another petition within a week to 10 days.

Bailey said they withdrew the petition to clean up some of the language but wouldn't say specifically what changes they would make.

The initial petition would have called for full legalization of the plant genus cannabis.
