DaWise Perry Funeral Services has broken ground on its new location which is also the first crematorium in Mandan.
Work is already underway at the site of the thirteen thousand square foot funeral home.
"A lot of families are choosing cremations now, and it's a fairly expensive piece of equipment so not every funeral home has one. Since I'm building a new location it's less expensive to add it in now than to wait to add it in later," said David Wise, DaWise-Perry Funeral Services.
Wise hopes to better serve the community with the facility. He hopes to open in it June of 2020.
"It's going to be a much bigger facility, and a lot of families are choosing to have funerals at funeral homes. With this it will be bigger," said Wise.
The location wasn't Wise's first choice, but it fits with a recent city ordinance requiring crematoriums be placed in Industrial zones.
