MANDAN, N.D. - The Mandan teen charged with attempted murder in adult court had his trial date moved.
Sixteen-year-old Dequan Smith is accused of shooting a 27-year-old woman after a drug deal gone wrong.
Police say Smith is accused of meeting several victims at a gas station in Mandan to sell them half a pound of marijuana. The victims tell police Smith took more than $600 and gave them a bag. Inside the bag was cereal.
He’s charged with attempted murder, reckless endangerment, two counts of aggravated assault, and manufacture/distribution with intent to distribution.
His trial three day trial is scheduled to begin on Aug. 21.
