MANDAN, N.D. - On Wednesday, the Mandan Education Association and Mandan School Board announced that teachers and the board have signed a tentative 2-year contract that would give them raises.

Your News Leader reported May 9 that teachers in Mandan had agreed to the contract.

The new deal will give a $1,700 salary increase for all teachers in the 2019-2020 school year. Then in the 2020-2021 school year, teachers will get a step increase and an $800 salary increase. A step increase is a pay bump based on how long a teacher has worked within a district.

Mandan Schools Assistant Superintendent Jeff Fastnacht issued a statement:

“The agreement is a positive step for Mandan Public Schools and our fine teachers. I wish to commend the MEA on working in collaboration and cooperation to achieve this agreement. We have some of the best teachers, and we are happy they are being rewarded for their dedication to the district and our students.”
