UPDATE: Mandan Police identify man who died Saturday

UPDATE (2-10-2020): Mandan Police have identified the man who died Saturday after getting into an altercation with two officers.

Police say the man is 36-year-old John Michael Prudente Jr.

The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is gathering evidence, conducting interviews and reviewing audio and video.

An autopsy was conducted Monday morning and those results will be forwarded to the BCI when completed.

ORIGINAL STORY (2-9-2020): Two Mandan officers have been placed on administrative leave after a man died while being arrested.

It happened at 5:00 p.m. Saturday when Mandan Police pulled a 36-year-old man over on 3rd Street SW in Mandan. According to Mandan Police, the man drove away and pulled into a driveway.

Police say the man began fighting with two officers at a residence. When placed in handcuffs, police say he became limp and unresponsive.

Mandan police say he was taken to the hospital, where he died.

The two Mandan police officers have been placed on administrative leave. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigations is investigating the incident.
