Mandan Police Department releases more information on officer-involved shooting

MANDAN, N.D. - Police are releasing details some details about Tuesday's officer-involved shooting in Mandan.

Police say moments before the incident officers were working with the Metro Area Narcotics Task Force to find a 26-year-old man from the Bismarck-Mandan area, who is wanted on several warrants.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop on him in Frontier Trailer park in southeast Mandan. Then a cop fired a handgun striking the man.

Police don't say what happened during the stop that led to the man being shot.

Officers on scene began treating the man's wound until paramedics arrived, and he was taken to a local hospital.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigations is now investigating the shooting.

The officer involved is on administrative leave.
