Mandan city commissioners extend restaurant incentives

MANDAN, N.D. - In a bid to land more restaurants, Mandan city commissioners have extended two incentives: a sales tax rebate and a program that buys down business loan interest rates for eateries.

Surveys have found Mandan loses out to the capital city for restaurant options and residents want to change that.
Business Development Director Ellen Huber says the growing city of more than 21,000 has potential for upstarts and is seeking all kinds of restaurants to fill the gap.

"I really would tell anybody who is looking to open a restaurant in Mandan that they could come into a community that is not as saturated and maybe not as full of competiors as they might find in other situations," said Mandan Business Development Director Ellen Huber.

The program has been continued until March 31, 2018.
