Mandan Business Pitch Challenge Winner Plans for the Future
The second ever Mandan Business Pitch Challenge has chosen one business idea as the 2019 winner.
Latidot Scoop and Gift Shop, a new business planned by Dot Frank of Mandan, is the recipient of many prizes provided by the challenge.
Frank is now working hard to get her business up and running by the end of the year.
For as long as she can remember, Dot Frank has always had an interest in sales and opportunities to sell goods.
"I recall being in elementary school and I had a good girlfriend who we'd always come up with schemes to make money and we would invent businesses," Frank says.
Frank currently owns Cappuccino on Collins and will soon be adding another business to the mix, Latidot Scoop and Gift Shop.
But first, Frank's shop is undergoing cosmetic changes to get the funky, fresh vibe Frank wants for her store.
Frank will be selling ice cream and gift items in her new location.
"I'm hoping that the gift items we have inspire people to pick up a gift and give it to someone for no reason because I think those are the best gifts to receive," Frank says.
Frank says the Pitch Challenge helped her gather her thoughts for a business endeavor she's wanted to embark on for a long time.
"I hope it inspires other people to take the leap into business ownership and I also hope that it serves as motivation for nearby building spaces to be renovated and repurposed," Frank says.
She says she hopes her shop is a testament Mandan's continued growth.
Frank won $750 in cash and a chance to be eligible for a $10,000 forgivable loan.
Latidot is located at 104 1st street North East in Mandan.
