MANDAN, N.D. - ManCave Grooming in Mandan has a new owner.
Her story shows that with hard work and passion, anything is possible at any age.
At just 21 years old, Anna Vetter took over ManCave as an owner and stylist.
The staff at ManCave Grooming say they go "A Cut Above" to make sure their clients leave with a smile.
"I've really seen a lot more passion lately and it's awesome coming in to get a haircut and everyone's happy," says client Jayden Gimbel.
This was a surprising turn because she studied management at Bismarck State College and only recently became a master in cosmetology.
"Coming out of hair school, I really loved doing women's hair and coloring and all that stuff. And so, when I first came here I was kind of terrified of doing men's hair," Vetter says.
However, that fear quickly turned into passion, doing men's hair while running her own business.
"My dad had told me that, you're going to learn more in these couple weeks than you have probably your whole time in school. And I definitely agree," Vetter says.
Vetter's ambition at such a young age rubs off on those around her.
"She's a young entrepreneur and it's very refreshing to see somebody do something like that. You know? So, yeah, it is inspiring. Maybe someday I'll want to open up my own salon. But right now, I'm 100% backing Anna," says stylist Megan Maier.
Vetter says that staff support has been the most rewarding part of becoming an owner.
"One of the stylists had told me the other day that she's so excited about the future of the place that she works. And I guess that just means a lot to me because that's what I want for all of my employees, to be excited about where they work and to like coming to work," she says.
Vetter says she plans to add a few of her own touches to the business, like changing its name, in the near future.
You can get involved in the name change by going to ManCave Grooming's Facebook page and commenting on what you think its new name should be.
If they choose your suggestion, you will receive a $100 gift certificate to Vetter's barber shop.
