Man runs red light causing accident in downtown Bismarck

BISMARCK, ND - UPDATE: Bismarck Police say an 82-year-old man ran a red light Monday night, hitting another car and crashing into a light pole.

Police say the Bismarck man tried to accelerate through the Main Ave and 3rd St. light when he hit another car with a 16-year-old female driver.

The man’s car spun out and hit a light pole.

Police say the 82-year-old was taking to Sanford Hospital for minor injuries. He was cited for running a red light.


ORIGINAL STORY: A crash happening just after 10 p.m. Monday night sent one man to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Bismarck Police Department says two vehicles crashed at the intersection of Main Ave and 3rd St.

Witnesses say that one of the drivers ran a red light.

Officers say there no drugs or alcohol involved and no criminal charges are planned.
