Man arrested for assaulting Williston police officer

WILLISTON, N.D. - The Williston Police Department says a man was arrested for assaulting a police officer after the officer responded to an altercation between multiple individuals Monday night.

Law enforcement says 39-year-old James Daly was in a fight outside of an apartment building on the 3600 block of 7th Avenue West.

Officers say when they responded, Daly was yelling, said he wanted to fight them, and refused to be arrested.

Police say they eventually put handcuffs on Daly, and while walking to the patrol car, Daly continued to be aggressive and kicked an officer one or more times in the leg.

Prosecutors charged Daly with Simple Assault on a Peace Officer, Preventing Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct.
