Man accused of punching officer in June is headed to trial

BISMARCK, N.D. - A man accused of punching a Bismarck police officer has pleaded not guilty.

26 year old Zachary McLaughlin is accused of yelling at officers and asking them if they wanted to die.

Bismarck officers were responding to a call of two people running into traffic and when they got there McLaughlin was lying on the ground by the intersection.

McLaughlin is accused of punching an officer in the head and resisting arrest.

He’s charged with simple assault and preventing arrest.

His trial is scheduled for November 15.
