MINOT, N.D.- Amtrak passengers saw this view for much of Tuesday morning, as they awaited the delayed Empire Builder to Seattle.
The train, which was scheduled to leave Minot at 9:00 a.m., hadn't arrived yet due to mechanical errors at stations in Minnesota and eastern North Dakota.
The train left the Rugby station around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and arrived in Minot a little before 3:00 p.m.
The delay came as a surprise to some passengers.
“I got here about 9:00 a.m., and I didn't check in to see when the train would be in, and I found out it was going to be late,” said Jim Kakopyko, an Amtrak passenger.
The train only passes through once a day, so passengers don't have much of a choice but to wait in these situations.
A BNSF train helped pull the Amtrak in to Minot.
