MINOT, N.D. - Once again, the Minot High School cheerleading team is heading to state championships to take home the gold. The MHS football team is also competing in their championships.
"It's really cool! It's a great end to a great season," said senior Hailey Evans, MHS cheer flyer.
This year is about going for gold, but for some members it's about a little more.
"It is very serious we're trying to push our hard work so we can win all of our four years that we've been on the team," said senior Bethany Presley, MHS cheer back spot.
"Going back I think the pressure is going to be ten times higher because we want to get another one. I think getting on the mat that day will be just like a wave of emotions. But all good ones I hope," said Evans.
With the fifth state title nearly in their grasp coaches say the are able to take on any challenge.
"A lot of teams would run away when they found out that 33 girls were going to be on this team. But, we saw so much potential in everyone of these girls that we put our heart and soul into just making sure that they were as ready as possible for competition," said MHS co-cheer coach Jakobe Wallace.
"It's going to be a crazy weekend for us. We're going to leave Friday morning go down to Fargo and then we get to cheer at the championship football game. Next day we turn around, bright and early, and we get to get up and compete and show off what they have been working for all year," said MHS head varsity cheer coach Sarah Seney.
The team says they're hoping that the community continues to cheer them on to victory.
MHS cheerleaders will be competing this Saturday, November 11, at Fargo South High School at 11 a.m. Winners to be announced around 3:30 p.m.
