Lonesome Dove mural to stay up as lawsuit against Mandan ends

MANDAN, N.D. - The Lonesome Dove's lawsuit with the City of Mandan over its mural is over and the artwork will stay up.

City commissioners initially denied the bar's permit for the mural because it was considered an advertisement.

Owners Brian Berube and Augie Kersten also didn't apply for the permit until after installing the artwork.

The two sued the city, which then changed its policy to allow similar murals.

In a statement, the two said they, “Hope everyone can enjoy putting up murals without having to go through what we went through.”
