BISMARCK, N.D. Losing a loved one isn't easy, and that accounts for losing your furry friend too. It's important to be able to say goodbye to your family members, even the four-legged ones.

A local funeral home opened a cemetery for pets called Summerfield Pet Memorial Park.

The park is the only one in the Bis-Man area. It takes up six acres of Fairview Cemetery along Hay Creek. Currently there are 1,300 lots available to lay your pet to rest.

"I realize the bond that people have with their pets, as we did. it's nice to know that you can take care of that family member, which our pets become to many of us, in a dignified way at the end," said owner Bob Eastgate.

The Memorial Park lets residents have a place to grieve and memorialize their furry friend.
