BISMARCK, N.D. - A local artist is painting a new scene at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library.

Mel Gordon with the Dakota West Arts Council created a mural that will decorate a wall in the middle of the library.

The mural was designed to encompass things found in and around Burleigh County, such as wheat, the prairie rose, and a meadowlark.

“We wanted to make sure that we highlight everyone that comes in and everyone that we provide services to and that includes our rural patrons in Burleigh County,” said Christine Kujawa, library director.

The mural is being paid for by the Bismarck Library Foundation.

Kujawa says it is expected to be completed in the following weeks.
