BISMARCK, ND- Several bills are up for vote on the senate floor today.

Today, the Senate will vote on house bill 1097, which will determine whether or not to get rid of the blue law.

North Dakota is the last state in the nation with blue laws, preventing some stores from opening before noon on Sundays.

Up next, the Senate will vote on house bill 1200, which could prevent extra taxation on plastic bags and straws.

Minot is one of the cities considering a five cents bag tax.

Finally, the Senate will vote on house bill 1174, which will determine whether or not to waive income tax on social security benefits.

North Dakota is one of 13 states that tax Social Security benefits.
