BOTTINEAU COUNTY, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality has placed all of Lake Metigoshe under a blue-green algae advisory.
The advisory was made effective Fri., Sept. 20. It previously only applied to the southeast portion of the north lake.
State health officials have placed 16 lakes under advisories, and three remain under warnings.
The algae can produce what are called "cyanotoxins," which can cause serious health effects in people and animals.
