MILWAUKEE, Wis. - KMOT's Joe Skurzewski and his family had the privilege of meeting the late Pres. George H.W. Bush and his family when Joe was just a young child.

The First Family was visiting Joe's hometown of Milwaukee, Wis., in the early 1990s, and Joe's father Bill, a longtime Milwaukee Police Officer, was assigned to security for the President's visit.

Joe's older brother Billy suffered from a congenital heart defect. According to Joe's family, the Bush administration was made aware of the fact that a local police officer's son was facing a heart and lung transplant, and agreed for a photo opportunity with the boy and his family.

Pres. Bush picked Joe up and held him in his arms for the photos. The President and First Lady Barbara Bush later signed the photo.

Joe's older brother Billy passed away on Jan. 20, 1993, shortly before he was supposed to receive his transplant--the same day that the man who defeated Pres. Bush, Bill Clinton, was sworn into office.
