Judge to allow 2 new expert witnesses to testify on behalf of Alfonso Rodriguez

A federal judge will allow two new expert witnesses to testify on behalf of a man sentenced to death for killing a UND student 15 years ago.

Over prosecutors' objections, Judge Ralph Erickson ruled that they can testify during an upcoming evidentiary hearing for Alfonso Rodriguez.

The U.S. Attorney's office opposed testimony from a psychologist and a medical toxicologist.

But, Erickson says excluding evidence that could be helpful to Rodriguez is harsh and not justified.

Rodriguez kidnapped and killed Dru Sjodin in 2003.
