Judge sentences former daycare provider convicted of child abuse

BISMARCK, N.D. - A judge sentenced a former daycare provider convicted of child abuse on Monday.

Court documents say 56-year-old Marlene Steedsman was running a daycare service when the victim's mother picked the victim up from the daycare and noticed her child had bruising and lacerations around the ear.

When the victim was asked about the incident he said Steedsman tried to break his ears off because he wet his pants.

A judge sentenced Steedsman to 18 months with credit for time served and three years of probation.

Documents say when Steedsman was approached about the incident she claimed another child was responsible for the injuries while they were wrestling.

The court is also requiring Steedsman to register as an offender against children.
