Stutsman County dispatchers say a scammer called a Bismarck man, saying they had his daughter and were demanding money to get her back.

The scammer said he had abducted the girl from the Jamestown Walmart. The victim said he could hear a woman screaming in the background of the call.

Officers say after investigating, they found the daughter was OK and not whoever was on the call.

They say the victim, however, suffered a medical emergency because of the incident and had to go to the hospital.

Police say if you get a similar call, report it to local law enforcement.
