BISMARCK, N.D. - The Burleigh Morton Detention Center says they had to take an inmate to the hospital twice on Saturday after he cut his head open while in custody.
Forty-four-year-old Shane Dockter is being held at the jail on several counts, including terrorizing, in connection to an 11-person hostage situation Thursday night in Bismarck.
Jail director Steve Hall says Dockter began to headbutt the wall and sustained a large laceration from his head to the bridge of his nose on Saturday morning. Hall says deputies took him to the hospital where he received stitches.
Jail administrators say Saturday afternoon, Dockter was at it again slamming his head into the wall inside his cell. Hall says Dockter reopened his wound and was taken to the hospital again.
